Houses are cheap (though getting more expensive as people are figuring this all out.) commercial buildings are cheap, labor is cheap. We need them, and are willing to pay for them. Take the efficiencies that the cities have figured out, and bring them out here. Lord knows you can find cheap labor.Buildings are cheap these days, and local governments will almost literally pay you to hire people to work in them. We'd be better off bulldozing the place and giving them back to nature. Yes, even telework isn't always feasible when the only internet is a barely functioning DSL line, and the only things keeping some of these towns alive is welfare money and drug money. You can have a backyard campfire without applying for a permit, have some friends over for a BBQ while playing music and no one calls the cops (minus your occasional 'Karen-trumper', who seems to care more about the color of skin of people outside than what's actually going on.) Clean water, clean skies, you can see the stars, bigger yards, Life's actually pretty good out here, minus the re-publican trumpers.
